Chemcial Resistance

Modern Polymer chemistry has evloved over the years and a new generation of high-performance polyurea coatings are on the market.

These industry leading coatings play an important role in preventing and containing spills to protect the environment. In today’s world the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and many other Environmental Agencies around the world enforce strict standards and large fines for not being in compliance. Advanced chemical resistant Polyurea coatings protect and extend the service life of structures.

After six years of R&D and rigorous testing, SPI developed a high elongation polyurea that allows the coating to move with expanding and contracting substrates. It’s 100% solids with no solvents or VOCs, and is eco-friendly. Amazing chemical resistance that is comparable to many epoxies. Excellent adhesion to many substrates (i.e. concrete, metal, wood, etc.).

Polyurea coating systems are resistant to water and petroleum-based chemicals, such as gasoline, hydraulic fluid, diesel fuel, motor oil, MTB, toluene, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and caustic chemicals such as sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and hydrogen sulfide.

SPI’s polyurea can be used on above & below ground tanks, pipes and pit liners, or new or existing rehabilitation purposes.
