Waterproofing

Raceway Remediation

Job Description: The cracked and degrading concrete raceways at the hatcheries were in need of a facelift as well as increased structural integrity. Water ingress through the cracks was carrying contaminated soil to reach the fish with fatal results. POLYSHIELD HT® was chosen because of its superior strength and elastomeric properties needed for bridging cracks in the concrete. Prior to application of POLYSHIELD HT®, the concrete was prepped with a high-pressure wash using biodegradable soap, dried and then vacuumed. In order to avoid the additional step of applying a primer, AE-4 Adhesion Enhancer ws added to POLYSHIELD HT® which was applied directly to concrete. The ability to combine these steps expedited the application process while reducing labor costs.

Tests performed on, and passed by POLYSHIELD HT® include Bioassay (Aquatic Toxicity), Leachate, and Outgassing (test results provided upon request). POLYSHIELD HT® was determined to be the safest and most economical coating for the hatchery. The owner was extremely pleased with the fast cure time and the hatchery was able to put the raceways back to service immediately.
